SCO Arbitration Legal Forum
On April 25, 2025, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Arbitration Legal Forum was held in Urumqi, China, organized by the China International Trade and Economic Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the People’s Government of the Xinjiang People’s Republic of China, the Xinjiang Committee for the Promotion of International Trade of the People’s Republic of China, with the support of leading arbitration institutions of the SCO and Central Asia.
The theme of the forum is «Joining forces for cooperation in arbitration and opening new horizons in the era of the rule of law». The forum focused on exchanges and cooperation in the field of dispute settlement both within the SCO and between China and the countries of Central Asia, as well as on the prospects for trade and economic cooperation between the SCO member states and in the China-Central Asia format. The purpose of this event is to provide services for the settlement of international commercial disputes to promote economic connectivity in the SCO region.
Natalia Prisekina, Head of the Russian CCI Branch and Executive Secretary of the International Commercial Arbitration Court (ICAC) and the Maritime Arbitration Commission (IAC) at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation in Vladivostok, Vice President of the Association of Mediators and Intermediaries of the Asia–Pacific Region for International Disputes, made a presentation on «Regional cooperation and prospects for the development of international arbitration: The International Commercial Arbitration Court and the Maritime Arbitration Commission at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation».
The forum also discussed topics such as dispute resolution in emerging SCO-related industries, as well as the integration of artificial intelligence and international arbitration.
