Federal Law of July 26, 2019 No. 197-FZ

Today, the Federal Law of July 26, 2019 No. 197-FZ «On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation» was officially published.

The law amends Federal Law No. 193-FZ «On an Alternative Procedure for Dispute Settlement with the Participation of a Mediator (Mediation Procedure)», the Arbitration Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, the Civil Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, the Code of Administrative Procedure of the Russian Federation, the Law “On the Status of Judges Of the Russian Federation ”, Fundamentals of the legislation of the Russian Federation on notaries, Federal Law «On Enforcement Proceedings».

According to the law, a new institution of alternative dispute resolution is introduced. Retired judges can now be official judicial conciliators. The law also secured the possibility and procedure for certifying a mediation agreement with a notary, and the law gave the mediation agreement itself the status of an executive document, on the basis of which it has now become possible to compel the parties of the agreement to enforce the terms of the agreement.
